Anton Van Leeuwenhoek (1632 – 1723), a man with no university education, but with unrivaled talents as both microscope maker and as an observer and recorder of the microscopic living world. Leeuwenhoek made a microscope that were simple and tiny, but his ground lenses so precisely that magnification was 10 times that Hook`s instrument. In 1673, Leeuwenhoek, shown in Figure 1.2a, was able to observe apreviously unseen world of microorganisms, He observed cells with green stripes from an alga of the genus Spirogyra as shown in Figure 1.2b and bell-shaped cells on stalks of a protest of the genus Vorticella, as shown in Figure 1.2c, Leeuwenhoek called these organisms animalcules. We called them now protists.

في هذه الاجيال علماء ننتظر المستقبل يظهرهم...فابهرونا واحدثونا.....
